About Ms. Susan Back to Homepage
My first year of teaching, I taught a kindergarten class at a private school called Brooklyn Friends. Soon after, I planted my roots at P.S. 33, Chelsea Prep. I have taught third, fourth and fifth grade. I experienced working outside of the classroom as the instructional coach in literacy and math. I am back in the classroom as a third grade teacher at Special Music School and I am loving it! Every year has been exciting and every class truly memorable.
I graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Psychology. Immediately following, I recieved my Masters in Education at Teachers College, Columbia University and went right into teaching.
I am a huge sports fan partly because I grew up with two sports fanatics.....my brothers! I'm always up for attending any sporting event such as a Knicks/Yankees game or the US Open tennis match. I enjoy playing sports such as volleyball, swimming, tennis, and flag football. I thrive in finding good eats. I love a good NY hamburger or steak and eggs for brunch. At times, I crave for Italian pasta and fish tacos at Mercadito restaurant. But you can never go wrong with Korean food! It's a staple. I enjoy listening to all types of music. And I love to teach!
A parent (Emily's father) hand carved my
last name "MYUNG" in Hieroglyphics.

During the past summers, I volunteered to teach English to kids living in underprivileged places around the world. I've been to the Southeast Asian country of Almaty, Kazakhstan, an Indian reservation in Saskatchewan, the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, and my last visit was to the small villages in Uracco, Honduras. The people and children in all these places have been so warm and welcoming. I gain so much more from the people there than what I have to offer. My experience inspires me to become a better teacher and a better person.
In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students. And I love to make learning fun and exciting! Are you ready to partner up with me to help our kids become lifelong learners?
